The Big Elk Hunt 2009

With Tim's Men's Group

Though we call this a hunt, and we do hunt a lot, really it is a family campout.
This year over a third of the group were kids, and they had a ball!

While the ardent Elk hunters were out walking their 6-10 miles each day,
the kids were learning Fire Building, Knife Handling, Horsemanship, Rocks & Minerals
GPS usage, as well as catching up on their missed school work.

How to change a teenage girl, Mackenzie, into a hunter

Back to Serious Hunting.
Our friend Dewey was the first to connect, and a trophy it is!

.

A few days later, back out in the field, both kids and adults enjoy the scenery.

.

Near dusk, Mackenzie connects with her 3x4 buck
.

Shortly after that, Harold connects on his Elk, spotted by his wife.
.

I guess you have to say the hunt is succesful when the meat pole breaks.
With the help Dave, Tim , and Mackensey (driving the ATV) we got it back up in place.

After the work is over, it's was time for wine and stories
