March 20, 2014 Final Report
After the Mission Builders left, Phil worked with Pepe, Brent, and Tony to try to finish the Guest House. Jose also brought in a crew of tilers and they tiled all the floors and bathroom on a Friday - Saturday. They also tiled the 2nd floor of the Canadian Dorm. They did a great job. Finally, Jose hired a carpenter to finish the doors and remaining kitchen cabinets. He has not yet started his work, be expects to be finished in April. So here is the way it looks now.

No report would be complete without including some other additions to the base.

This week the older PA Mission Builders came, and age did not slow them down a bit. They concentrated on the Guest House. These craftsmen work from scratch, starting with dimension lumber, stain, varnish and glue. When finished they have some of the finest custom kitchen cabinet, with counters, that you have ever seen. They also made, finished and installed beautiful window and door frames with trim. The Electrical was also finished including the installation of the elaborate lighting fixtures .

It was not always
work: Late one afternoon we attended the weekly worship service that some of
the base staff put on, in a nearby village. It was wonderful to see the
villagers, including many children, participate in the service.
.
Of course we also
had to go out to dinner one evening at the Tango restaurant.

February 5, 2014 The Amish Visit
Our first
team this year came on a private bus all the way from Lancaster County
Pennsylvania.
They were 48 Amish young folks, and they came ready to work hard. They
did dry
wall finishing including taping, mudding and texture in the guest
house. They
painted all our railings. They replaced siding all the way up to 35 ft
in the
air. They put in subflooring, replaced windows and many other jobs for us on the base
here.

That year was very different since the only long term Mission Builder was Phil Sauer from Montana. However we did get a small (but very hard working) team from Pennsylvania. Together we were able to get the rough in wiring, and the drywall in the Guest House. We also changed the badly weathered siding on the east side of the duplex.
